Bathing in Clay
Clay’s toxin-attracting capabilities aren’t only useful inside the body. It can be used, just as effectively, to draw out unwanted elements from the outside. Again, because clay has a uniquely strong negative ion charge, it attracts things with a positively charged ion (most impurities are positively charged), like a magnet. To take a clay bath, simply mix 1 to 2 cups of clean, natural clay with warm water and enjoy a relaxing soak.
Sweating
“To sweat is to pray, to make an offering of your innermost self.
Sweat is holy water, prayer beads, pearls of liquid that release your past. Sweat is an ancient and universal form of self-healing,
whether done in the gym, the sauna, or the sweat lodge …”
—Gabrielle Roth, dancer and musician
Many people in our culture seem afraid to sweat. We go to great lengths to avoid the feeling of sweat-drenched clothing and bodies—even conditioning our inside air to avoid the natural detoxification that happens through sweating during the warmer months. The value and role of sweating, however, goes beyond temperature regulation. Our sweat escorts so much out of and away from our bodies. It’s like taking a shower from the inside out. Both water-soluble and fat-soluble toxins are excreted through our sweat, so, unlike the release of mostly water-soluble toxins through our urine, sweat allows us to excrete things like heavy metals and radioisotopes, which are stored in our fat. The following is a quote from a study published in the Archives of Environmental and Contamination Toxicology in 2011:
